Why I Built Maia HHome And Why India Deserved Better
By Dhiraj Kumar Jain, Founder & CEO, Maia HHome
India Has Always Known How to Make Beautiful Things
We just forgot how to give them a name.
For more than twenty years, I worked in retail business from value retail to lifestyle to luxury.
I watched customers walk into stores looking for international labels, believing that luxury must arrive from somewhere else — from Italy, from Europe, from names they had been taught to trust.
At the same time, I watched something else.
I watched Indian-made products — often crafted in the very same factories, often superior in material and finish — sit quietly without identity, without story, without the respect they deserved.
I watched India produce some of the finest cotton in the world and sell it without a voice.
I watched artisans create beauty with their hands, only for that beauty to leave the country carrying someone else’s name.
And I kept returning to the same question:
Why does India not have a home lifestyle brand it is proud to call its own?
That question became Maia HHome.
The Problem Was Never the Product
Let me say this clearly.
India has never lacked quality.
We have the craftsmanship.
We have the raw materials.
We have the heritage.
We have the design instinct.
What we lacked was belief.
Somewhere along the way, we accepted the idea that luxury had to come from somewhere foreign. That “Made in India” was an explanation, not an advantage.
I never believed that.
To me, India was never a sourcing destination.
It was always an origin.
Maia HHome was built to restore that belief.
I Did Not Want to Build a Product Company
I wanted to build a brand.
There is a difference.
A product company sells things.
A brand sells conviction.
It gives people something to believe in.
At the heart of Maia HHome is one simple belief:
India is not a source. India is an origin.
An origin with thousands of years of craftsmanship.
An origin that gave the world muslin so fine it was once called woven air.
An origin shaped by weavers, potters, perfumers, and artisans whose work has quietly influenced the world for centuries.
That origin deserves more than export labels.
It deserves identity.
It deserves aspiration.
It deserves a global voice.
That is what we are building.
Six Verticals. One Philosophy.
I made a deliberate decision early.
Maia HHome would never be just a bedsheet company.
Or just a candle company.
Because a home is not experienced in categories.
It is experienced in moments.
It is the softness of fabric when you wake up.
The scent that greets you when you walk in.
The object on your table that makes a meal feel special.
The silence of a room that feels complete.
That is why we built six verticals:
Eternal Linens — because comfort begins with what touches your skin

Sense of Dreams — because rest should feel like restoration, not routine
https://www.maiahhome.com/collections/sense-of-dreams
Crafted Luxury — because objects should hold intention, not just occupy space
https://www.maiahhome.com/collections/crafted-luxury
Pristine Ware — because dining is a ritual, not a transaction

Skin Secrets — because self-care belongs inside the home experience
https://www.maiahhome.com/collections/skin-secrets
Opulent Aromas — because scent is memory, and every home deserves its own signature

These are not separate categories.
Together, they create a world.
Our Experience Centre in Bangalore
In May 2025, we opened our flagship experience centre in Bangalore.
I never wanted it to feel like a store.
A store asks you to purchase.
An experience centre invites you to pause.
To touch the linen.
To breathe the fragrance.
To feel the weight of a crafted object in your hand.
Because luxury cannot always be explained.
Sometimes, it has to be felt.
Bangalore was the right place to begin.
It is a city with global ambition and a deep appreciation for design. A city that understands that excellence does not need to be imported.
Sometimes, it begins at home.
What We Are Really Building
Maia HHome is not a short-term business idea.
It is a long-term act of brand building.
The Indian premium home lifestyle market is ready.
There is a growing affluent audience.
A younger generation that values design and intentional living.
A stronger pride in things made beautifully in India.
The market is ready.
What was missing was the brand.
We are building that — patiently, carefully, without compromise.
The vision is simple to say and difficult to execute:
One day, Maia HHome should be recognised globally the way the finest Italian or Japanese home brands are recognised — not despite being Indian, but because of it.
That is the ambition.
And we are building for the long term.
To the People Building This With Us
To our customers:
You are not simply buying a product.
You are choosing to believe that Indian luxury deserves the same respect as any luxury in the world.
You are choosing craftsmanship over convenience.
Story over sameness.
Identity over imitation.
That matters.
To our partners — interior designers, architects, hospitality teams:
We understand the standard you work to.
We are building for that standard.
And to future investors and collaborators:
The whitespace in Indian premium home is real.
The opportunity is significant.
And Maia HHome has the conviction, clarity, and long-term vision to build something meaningful within it.
We are not building fast.
We are building right.
A Home Is Not a Space. It Is a Feeling.
This is our tagline.
But more importantly, it is our founding truth.
Because a home is never just walls and furniture.
It is the softness of linen.
The flicker of candlelight.
The fragrance that stays in the air after everyone has left.
The quiet satisfaction of objects chosen with care.
That is what people remember.
That is what makes a house feel like home.
Maia HHome exists to make those feelings beautiful, intentional, and unmistakably Indian.
We are only at the beginning.
