Our Story

It Began With a Single Moment, in Another Country

The idea for MAIA HHOME did not begin in a boardroom. It began with a feeling — the kind that stays with you.

Our founder, Dhiraj, walked into a Zara Home in Singapore and felt something he hadn't felt in an Indian home store before: that a home could be an experience. The textures invited touch. The scent of the space was deliberate. Everything, from the weight of a towel to the drape of a curtain, had been considered. It wasn't loud or ostentatious. It was simply, quietly, beautiful — a place that made you want to live more thoughtfully.

And then came the thought that would not leave him: Why doesn't this exist at home, in India — made by us, for us?

Because here was the irony. So much of what made that store beautiful — the fine cottons, the hand-finished details, the craft — traced back to India in the first place. India has made the world's finest textiles for centuries. We were the source. And yet the experience of luxury, the brand, the sense of occasion, had been built somewhere else.

That gap is where MAIA HHOME was born.

65 Years of Knowing Fabric

This was not a leap into the unknown. It was a return to something the family had always known.

Behind MAIA HHOME sits 65 years of family heritage in textiles — generations spent understanding fibre, weave, and finish from the inside out. The difference between cotton that softens with every wash and cotton that wears thin in a season. The honesty of a single-ply thread count versus the marketing of an inflated one. What hand-block printing actually takes, and why no machine can replicate it.

That depth matters, because luxury in the home is not about logos or price tags. It is about quality you can feel — the moment your hand moves across a sheet, the way a room sounds softer with a real rug underfoot, the way a scent makes a house feel like a home. Knowing fabric for 65 years means we don't have to guess what good feels like. We already know.

Why India Deserved Better

For a long time, the aspirational Indian home looked outward for its luxury. Imported brands were the symbol of having arrived; Indian-made was quietly assumed to mean cheaper, not finer.

We never accepted that hierarchy — because we knew it wasn't true.

The same hand-block print sold as artisanal luxury under a European label was sold as budget ethnic décor under an Indian one. The same fine cotton, the same skilled hands, the same centuries-old traditions — valued differently only because of the name on the label. India had the craft. What it lacked was a brand confident enough to present that craft as what it genuinely is: among the very best in the world.

MAIA HHOME exists to close that gap. To say, without apology, that India's textile and craft heritage belongs on the same shelf as any global luxury name — and to build the experience, the standard, and the care that lets it stand there.

What We Make, and How We Think About It

MAIA HHOME is a complete luxury home brand. Hand-crafted and pure-cotton bed linen and duvets. Hand-knotted and flat-weave rugs. Home fragrance built to give a home its own signature — reed diffusers, scented candles, linen sprays. Towels and bath, table linen, throws and cushions, crafted objects and décor.

But the philosophy underneath all of it is simple, and it runs through everything we've written and everything we make: luxury is not expensive — it is intentional. It is fewer, better things. It is materials made to last and to soften with age rather than to be replaced. It is craft you can feel and a home that restores the people who live in it rather than performing for the people who visit.

We make things to be lived with, every single day, for years.

The Home as an Emotion

In the end, MAIA HHOME is built on a belief that a home is not a space — it is an emotion. It is the feeling of sinking into a bed that feels like a five-star hotel. The scent that greets you at the door. The texture underfoot, the light through a beautiful curtain, the quiet confidence of a room that is unmistakably yours.

That feeling — the one Dhiraj first noticed in a store thousands of kilometres from home — is what we set out to bring back to India, made by India, at a standard India has always deserved.

This is MAIA HHOME. Welcome home.
